Three Options – Family Friendly – Fun all Around!
1. Railbike (Easy and Relaxing for 2 people)
Sit back on our comfortable rail bikes and lightly pedal your way along railroad track with views of the Monterey Bay coast and the sounds of the track – the perfect activity for couples, or reserve multiple cars for families or friend groups! Our rail bikes are premium commercial railroad cars with state-of-the-art motor and control systems to make the journey as effortless as possible. Railbikes are great for almost all ages; we have even had customers in their 90’s ride! With all-wheel hydraulic brakes, fully adjustable seats, and an ergonomic eye-catching design, these one-of-a-kind cruisers will surely be something you won’t regret “driving”!
*Railbike participants must be at least 5 years old and under 325 lbs each.
2. Railbike (Easy and Relaxing for 4 people)
The same railbikes as option 1, but we connect two together to create a “pedal train” for a group of 4. When booking, reserve two railbikes as you would in option 1 and when you arrive just notify our staff you want your rail bikes latched together.
*Railbike participants must be at least 5 years old and under 320 lbs each.
3. Handcar (A Challenge and a Thrill for 4 people)
A handcar tour is a mixture of thrill and perseverance, creating lasting memories for your entire team! Handcar riding is all about teamwork and the journey is challenging at times as you hand and foot-pump your way to the summit of Fort Ord. Bring snacks to enjoy at the break point, and then all the hard work pays off as you enjoy the thrilling downhill trip back to the base. This experience is recommended for those who enjoy physical activities which may include hiking, running, sports, etc. We recommended at least two of the participants be accustomed to regular physical activities such as those listed above. Handcar Tours is the only place in the world where you can ride a handcar from the comfort of your seat and use your entire body to glide down historic railroad tracks. Some have told us that the handcar tour was the most exciting and memorable experience they have ever had. Finally, a little secret, our handcars can go faster than our electric-assisted rail bikes!
*Handcar participants must be at least 10 years old and under 300 lbs each.
